He was charged with attempted murder and expected to appear in the Nyoni Magistrate's Court soon.

A 25-year-old man was arrested after allegedly shooting his younger brother three times following a family dispute in Sundumbili.

The incident occurred on Saturday in the Mankenganeni area of Ngudiwini Reserve.

iLembe police spokesperson Captain Priya Nunkumar said the 21-year-old victim was rushed to a local clinic after being shot three times.

“The suspect allegedly attempted to murder his brother after a dispute broke out between them before fleeing the home with the firearm used in the commission of the offence,” said Nunkumar.

Sundumbili police traced the suspect, who was found in possession of a licensed 9mm pistol believed to have been used in the shooting.

The firearm was seized and will undergo ballistic testing to determine whether it was used in any other crimes.

The suspect was charged with attempted murder and is expected to appear in the Nyoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
