Ilembe matrics honored for good results.

The Ilembe district municipality honoured the class of 2013 at the district matric awards, held at the Johnny Makhathini Hall in Ndwedwe last Friday, February 7.
Awards included best candidates and teachers in each learning area, with adult education and training featuring for the first time.
Dumane Commercial, Isibanesezwe, Khethimfundo, Ubuhlebembiza and Zakariyya Muslim schools walked away with awards for 100 % pass rates.
Deputy mayor Dolly Shandu made special mention of Lihlitemba Technical College pupil Qiniso Ngiba who was the top pupil in the country for quintile three schools.
Shandu congratulated the district on its 72.46 % pass rate.
“The Ilembe district is encouraged that the education and future of their children is in good hard working and caring hands like yours.”
The day’s biggest winner was Stanger Manor Secondary School which bagged 31 awards in recognition of pupils, teachers and the school as a whole.
Principal Mervin Gounden said he was pleased and proud of his staff and his pupils and wished the latter the best for their future endeavours.
AET best candidate in the district for the Zulu examination Sihle Nzama thanked Ilembe and the department for organising the event.
“I feel like a teenager today. I have never been recognised for anything in my life and it feels so good knowing that the first recognition I get is for something as powerful as education. This is just the beginning,” said Nzama.
