Covid-19 case delays KwaDukuza licencing department opening
The centres in KwaDukuza town and Salt Rock were due to open on Friday, June 12.
A KwaDukuza motor and driver licensing centre employee has tested positive for Covid-19, once again delaying the opening of the centres in the municipality.
The centres in KwaDukuza town and Salt Rock were due to open on June 1, but the opening date has been pushed out numerous times since.
Municipality spokesperson Sipho Mkhize said they were informed of the positive test this evening, resulting in the last moment announcement.
“The employee referred-to came into contact with the fellow colleagues as employees returned to work stations on Monday, June 8, to prepare for tomorrow’s opening.
“This, therefore, takes us back in terms of our original plan as we now have to allow all employees of the section to be retested for COVID-19 and to self-isolate for the required 14 days,” said Mkhize.
He asked residents not to panic as there remains a 90-day grace period for the renewal of expired licences.
“Those who able are urged to use other licensing offices/registering authorities and post offices.”
Alternatively, go to easyrenew.co.za to renew your licence online.
“We will be doing everything possible to ensure speedy retesting and return of results so that we can open up as soon as possible,” he said.
