Miss Ballito a major boost for charity

The crowning of the new Miss Ballito, Shelley Buckle, was a glamorous affair at Collisheen last Friday.

Umhlanga’s blond bombshell Shelley Buckle was crowned Miss Ballito at a glamorous final at Collisheen on Friday night.

Shelley is partially deaf and was also crowned Miss Deaf SA in 2012.

Ballito babe Tiffany Gore was crowned first princess and Miss Congeniality and second princess was Nozipho Msweli.
The winner of a modeling contract with Models International went to finalist Talya Sookdawu.
The Miss Ballito pageant was a resounding success, in total raising a phenomenal R126 500 for local charities.
Event organisers, Rotary Zimbali announced that this was more than the two previous years combined and came as a result of “a magnificent effort from all contributors”, said committee member Karen Horton.
Horton thanked all the sponsors and the hard working individuals who gave of their time and skills to make Miss Ballito 2013 the most memorable pageant to date.
“Our heartfelt thanks to our platinum sponsors Palm Lakes Family Estate, Collisheen Estate, Edgars, Emirates and Emirates Holidays, and our media sponsors Get It magazine and the Courier. And a special thank you to Seef, Amazing Vouchers, Urban Construction.”
The proceeds will be shared by Osizweni school, Maguyane school, the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund and the Rotary Club of Zimbali’s Wellbeing Centre for children at Shakashead.
On the night Zimbali Rotary’s Brian Elms handed over R6700 to Orphan Fund secretary Rose Stephenson, raised through the recent Drakensberg Boys Choir evening.
All 13 finalists walked away with fabulous prizes, with Miss Ballito receiving the two first class Emirates tickets to Dubai sponsored by Emirates Airlines and three nights accommodation in Dubai sponsored by Emirates Holidays.
“The winner’s mentor this year is Vicky Basson.
There are many exciting events planned for the new Miss Ballito who will be working closely with Rotary Club Zimbali and will be an ambassador for Ballito, involving herself in community and charitable works for the community,” said Horton.
