Umhlali tennis stars finish runners-up in inter-club champs

The club has enjoyed continued success over the past few competitions.

Umhlali Country Club’s top tennis players produced a strong showing at the recent Amex Club Championships, finishing runners-up after a series of impressive performances.

The team of Waylon Ferrandi, Jack Thornhill, Eryn Baird and Sian Kruger defeated Cowies Hill Tennis Club to book their place in the final.

Despite a determined effort, they were unable to overcome a strong Westville Tennis Club side and ultimately secured second place.

The club’s success has continued in the ongoing mixed league competition, with Umhlali’s Super League team making an emphatic start to the season.

Umhlali’s second team has also enjoyed a successful campaign so far, winning its opening two matches. The team edged Brighton Tennis Club 10-7 before producing a commanding 14-2 victory over Midlands.

The third team has faced tougher opposition, suffering defeats to Amanzimtoti Club (14-1) and Hillcrest 3 (12-2). However, club officials remain confident the side will bounce back as the season progresses.
