Idol Lendel returns
Tongaat's Idol's finalist Lendel Moonsamy is making a come back.

He made the North Coast proud by reaching the top four on the 2009 season of South African Idols… and now he is back.
Tongaat’s golden boy Lendel Moonsamy took a slight break from the music scene, following the release of his début album I Am, to get married and become music co-ordinator at Christian Revival Church in Ballito.
He is now ready to thrill audiences again with his intriguing mix of vocals and guitar.
“Idols was a fantastic platform but now the hype has died down, I want my music to be heard,” he said.
Lendel describes his new material as soft, alternate rock influenced by the likes of John Mayer and Mumford & Sons.
“Lyrically, it is realer than I have ever been. I have been concentrating on writing material people can relate to, going back to the basics of telling stories through my music. I appreciate that not everyone will like the new direction but I want people to listen and enjoy.”
He has hooked up with a few local musicians and formed a solid band that will accompany him on a series of gigs.
“We had our first jam session last week and I could not be happier with how we sound. I want to keep our sound pure and organic, so it is easy listening. I want people to see themselves in the music. People should not expect what they heard on Idols.”
Lendel plans to start work on a new album soon, which will include a few covers and originals.
Catch Lendel and his new band’s first appearance at The Jazzy Rainbow in Morningside on October 4 at 7.30pm.
