World Cup golf in our backyard
Two local golf courses have been selected as hosts of the Amateur World Golfers Championship.
The Amateur World Golfers Championship is coming soon to Ballito, and Umhlali Country Club and Prince’s Grant Coastal Estate have been selected as hosts for the third consecutive year.
This week World Golf Events South African confirmed that the two Ballito courses will host the 19th tournament with Durban Country Club and Cotswold Downs.
The final will see more than 300 golfers swing it out from October 26 to November 2. Golfers will compete in individual flighting and countries for the biggest amateur golf championship title in the world.
Umhlali Country Club’s general manager, Duard Nel, is happy to be hosting the tournament for the third time.
“We are very excited and privileged to yet again host the World Golfers Championship. Our course will receive some additional tender love and care early in October as we do our Spring Treatment and will be in perfect shape in time for the arrival of our international guests,” said Nel.
Prince’s Grant marketing manager, Mike McNamara, also felt privileged to co-host the event.
“We are very proud to share our hospitality and our beautiful golf course with the World Golfers Championship and look forward to another successful event,” said McNamara.
