Provincial government thanks Amakhosi
KwaZulu-Natal premier Senzu Mchunu met with Amakhosi in Ballito last week.
KwaZulu-Natal premier Senzo Mchunu has called on amakhosi to promote peace and political stability ahead of upcoming elections.
Mchunu and co-operative governance and traditional affairs (COGTA) MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube met with amakhosi at Ebandla Hotel in Ballito last week.
Mchunu thanked amakhosi for their role in provincial government structures.
It was his first interaction with amakhosi since he was sworn in as premier.
“KwaZulu-Natal is a very stable province today unlike in the past when it was characterised by political strife. Let us work with you as amakhosi to ensure that we never return to the ugly dark days of political instability. Rather, let us be known as a province whose communities are living free of poverty, hunger and disease,” said Mchunu.
Dube-Ncube assured amakhosi that the province would continue to involve them in government structures.
“You need to be part of our decisions because you link us with our people. We appreciate you and we are grateful for your work in promoting social cohesion.”
KZN house of traditional leadership chairman Inkosi Phathisizwe Chiliza, promised Mchunu that amakhosi were committed to heeding his call.
