Flying Squad swoops on alleged drug dealers

Rock cocaine dealers nabbed.

Three men suspected of dealing in drugs were arrested by the Durban Flying Squad narcotics task team in Durban and KwaDukuza last week.

The men were arrested in three separate incidents in different areas and police seized rock cocaine from all three suspects.

On November 12 members of the narcotics team investigated allegations of drug dealing and proceeded to a house in Clark Road, Umbilo area. On their arrival they found three women on the premises and during a search they found one of the women in possession of 20 pieces of cocaine valued at R1000. Mbhali Mbhele (22) was immediately arrested and charged for possession of drugs. She appeared at Durban Magistrates’ Court the next day.

On Thursday last week,November 14 the narcotics team proceeded to KwaDukuza where they arrested a 22-year-old man for possession of drugs. After police investigated allegation of drug dealing they swooped on the Thobani Zikhali’s home in Newtown, Tongaat. Police searched the house and found five pieces of rock cocaine valued at R500. Further investigation led the members to the KwaDukuza/Stanger CBD where they also arrested Jfeayi Ukatu (40) for possession of eleven full moons of rock cocaine valued R12000. Both men were charged for possession of drugs and appeared at Kwadukuza Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni congratulated the Flying Squad Narcotics Task Team for their continued dedication to remove these drug dealers from our communities.

“Most of these success stem from concerns relayed to police by concerned individuals in the community. We will do what is within our control to ensure that these drug dealers face the wrath of the criminal justice system,” she said.
