Counterfeit cigarettes worth more than R1,3million.

KwaDukuza cluster task team and crime intelligence officers recovered 92 boxes of counterfeit cigarettes worth more than R1,3million in Durban on Friday last week.

A 59-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of counterfeit cigarettes.

Officers received information about the cigarettes at a house in Loyde Place, Malvern.

A search yielded 92 boxes, each containing 50 cartons of cigarettes without the prescribed health warning.

The man will appear in the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court on Monday, November 25.
