Brides-to-be from across the province met at The Boathouse on Sunday to compete for the ultimate grand prize, a wedding worth R60 000.
The competition was hosted by SA Bridal Fairs, a Durban based events company managed by Natalie Price Jones. The day started with stalls displayed around the venue and a gold coins hunt. Vendors showcased everything you could want for the perfect wedding, from décor to cutlery and cakes. There was even a vendor who promised a live online wedding for your friends and family who could not make it to your special day. Sponsors of the competition Durban Zone online magazine and East Coast Radio’s Peter G were also there to make sure the most deserving bride got the prize.
The winner was decided inventively by mock playing the wedding tradition where the bride throws her bouquet. The lucky one who catches it, tradition has, will be the next bride.
Peter G threw the bouquet and Durban North’s Lauren Williams was the lucky bride-to-be who caught it, winning herself a wedding prize which covers expenses such as the venue, décor, photography, DJ, cake and champagne.
She said she had not set the wedding date yet but now it would be in the next six months since most of the things were now paid for.
