A traffic officer allegedly shot a man three times at the Sundumbili Police station.

A man was shot three times, allegedly by a traffic officer, at the Sundumbili police station last night.

At around 6pm, a 47-year-old man was found at the police station with three gunshot wounds.

Unofficial reports indicate that the injured man was having an argument with a traffic officer at the time of the shooting.

IPSS Security Operation’s emergency services were called to the scene and Rakesh Baldeo, the EMS manager, stabilised the gun-shot victim.

“It is still not 100 percent clear what happened before the shooting,” he said.

“The man was shot once in the right shoulder which had entrance and exit wounds, a second shot went through his abdomen and the third shot went through his left thigh and out the back.”

According to Baldeo, the suspect was arrested by Sundumbili SAPS. Baldeo and his team set up IV lines and took the the injured man to Victoria Hospital for treatment.

The EMS manager believes he will make a full recovery.

“After we had calmed him down and stabilised him, he was alright. He’ll definitely make a recovery but it will take some time.”
