Soup, socks and snuggles begin!

The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund’s third annual winter campaign.

North Coast Courier Orphan Fund’s third annual Soup, Socks and Snuggles campaign was launched this week at the Lifestyle SuperSpar.
Following the amazing success of last year’s drive, the Courier hopes to see thousands of soups, socks and winter clothing items going to the needy this winter.
Last year over 6000 soups (packets and tins) were collected and over 1,000 pairs of socks. This year the fund are extending the collection to include winter clothes and blankets of any description, hence the new name – Soup, Socks and Snuggles.
Every year most Dolphin Coast supermarkets have joined the campaign, acting as collection points. Mica Hardware is donating collection boxes, which once they are ready will increase the number of collection points, where the public is encouraged to give generously.
The Orphan Fund’s Rose Stephenson thanked  local schools for their enthusiastic embracing of the project every year and invited them to participate again this year.
“Our local schools do an excellent job of encouraging their young pupils to notice and care for the less fortunate of our community,” said Stephenson.
