Volleyball for orphaned pets

North Coast residents played in a round robin volleyball tournament to raise funds for Furever Pet Rescue.

Supporters of Furever Pet Rescue came together to play some Volleyball at Salmon Bay for a great cause on Sunday.

Six teams were formed for the fundraising volleyball tournament.

Over 40 people set up tents and braais while players battled it out on the beach sand in some great social volleyball.

Furever Pet Rescue was registered as a non-profit company (NPC) in November last year by Ian Blignaut and Cheryl Herda.

The couple supply medical treatment to abused and neglected cats and dogs on the North Coast.

Animals that are rescued by Blignaut are homed at Animally Haven, an animal sanctuary near Glendale that is owned by Gianna Scoulelis and her partner Bruce Kloppers.

“We organised this fundraiser so we will be able to pay for the veterinary bills of the animals we have and will rescue,” said Blignaut.

The teams paid registration which will contribute to the animals care.

“We hope to do this more often. I would like to thank Mica, Fiamma Grill and Cat Designs Jewellery for sponsoring prizes,” said Blignaut.

If you would like to volunteer or make a donation to Animally Haven contact Scoulelis on 083 799 9449.

If you want to adopt a healthy pooch from Furever Pet Rescue contact Cheryl on 073 509 4294.
