Warrior Race returns to Ballito

Let the obstacle race begin!

The Warrior Race obstacle course series will test competitors’ endurance and wits on Saturday and Sunday, July 26 and 27 at Living Earth Farm, Holla Trails, outside Ballito.

The Warrior returns almost a year after their inaugural race in Ballito, which saw about 1500 people compete in the muddy obstacle course.

This year 3200 people have already signed up and the organisers say that if they reach 4000 before the event registration will not continue on race day.

Organiser Pieter Swart said they have brought in new obstacles this year, so you can expect some surprises along the way. Also a new race category has been introduced, the Commando a 10km to 12km race with 20 obstacles.

The Warrior Brats is 500m-1km with eight obstacles for kids up to 13 years old, the Warrior Rookie is between five kilometres with 15 obstacles and the ultimate challenge is the BlackOps -16 to 19km with 30 obstacles.

New this year is that the top 20 athletes in the BlackOps race will qualify for the Obstacle Course Racing World Championships at Cincinnati, Ohio, in the USA in October.

“We will sponsor the first BlackOps man and woman to take part in the championships, the others will qualify but they will need to make their own way there if they wish to compete,” said Swart.
