Buttery and Gale live at the Barnyard

Multiple award winning guitar virtuoso, Guy Buttery returns to his hometown of Durban for a once-off performance at The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway on Monday, August 11.

For his upcoming national tour, Buttery arrives with a brand new show featuring drummer/percussionists extraordinaire, Gareth Gale.

With sell-out performances in the US, UK, Australia, Brazil, France, Italy and all over Southern Africa, Guy Buttery is Africa’s biggest acoustic music export. With two South African music awards under his belt (in 2010 for his album Fox Hill Lane and again in 2014 for Live in KwaZulu) and five Standard Bank Ovation Awards, Guy is no stranger to the South African music industry. His recent tour of SA was voted Top Live Show of the Year by The Cape Times.

Gareth Gale’s extraordinary work as one of South Africa’s leading percussionists has taken him to premier arts destinations around the world. From the House of Blues in Los Angeles and the Living Room in New York, to the famed Troubadour in London and Le Zebra in Paris to name a few. He has supported artists such as Snoop Dogg, Pharrell, Donovan Frankenreiter and Seether. He draws inspiration from the African and Indian rhythms that radiate out of his home city, Durban, and is conscious of reflecting these whenever he plays.

This exciting duo is fresh from their run at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown where they received a Standard Bank Silver Ovation Award for Best Music Production at the festival out of 4800 productions. Expect high dynamics, deep grooves, delicate African inflections and mind-bending guitar/drum chemistry of a new order.
