Thembeni writer releases third book

From car guard to writer.

A former North Coast Courier freelancer is proving that no circumstance should stop you from making your dreams come true.

Thembeni resident Lunga Ntuli has just released his third book and is aiming for a best seller. The book, Why Men Cheat and Women Do it Better, was released in Ballito on Friday.

But the confident Lunga, who studied sports management, did not always have things easy.

“In 2006 I was a car guard when I started a female cricket club. I wrote an article asking for sponsorship to the G-Sport website and was told they could not sponsor us, but I could write for them.” His quest to hone his writing skills brought him to the Courier in 2007, when then news editor Heidi Gibson, allowed him to freelance for the sports section.

“I spent two years with Heidi, my ‘mlungu mama’, and she taught me the basics of expressing myself through writing.”

After writing a soccer column for Isolezwe and establishing a following, Lunga decided to combine his thoughts into his first book: Love Vs Sport. Izimpande Zanempelo (The roots of success) followed, with Lunga using his knowledge of sport to draw parallels with love and success. His latest book uses rules of several sporting codes including netball, soccer and basketball, to decode the rules of infidelity.

“I want this book to not only be entertaining, but also encourage introspection. I give practical advice and solutions for cheaters and those who have been cheated on.

” The book will be officially launched later this month in Ballito. Your copy of the book will get you in. For more information or to purchase a book, contact Lunga on 078 338 0849.
