The annual and very popular Speedster race will be held on Wednesday September 17.
“Diarise the date and get your speedster shoes on”, said organiser Bev Livingstone.
Runners will be off on the four km time trial route at 5.30pm and can expect lots of undulations along the route and a slight hill to the finish line. This will be a pre-entry only event and no late entries will be accepted.
Interested runners can visit the Dolphin Coast Striders running club to enter. The first 80 entrants are invited to a sponsored dinner at Mozambik and in that theme of generosity, destitute runners’ entry fees are sponsored.
When Bev first started the Speedster nine years ago she never imagined it would become the biggest unofficial race on the Dolphin Coast.
“The impact on the local community has been phenomenal and the support from local business has been heart warming.”
The current course record of 11 minutes and 23 seconds is held by international star and local resident, Jason Spong who smashed the previous record last year.
Bev and the rest of the Speeder organisers would like to thank the sponsors for making this event possible.
