Sappi awards Protec bright sparks
Champion matrics earn some wonderful incentives.
Sappi invited Protec’s champion matrics for a lunch at the Palm Dunes Hotel on February 6, where they were given a wonderful surprise.
Four lucky matrics, who received distinctions in mathematics and physical science last year, were awarded R10 000 per subject distinction by Sappi.
Sappi has been supporting Protec since 1995 and introduced these financial incentives to matrics on the programme, by awarding R10 000 to those achieving distinctions in maths and science.
The award went to: Sicelo Innocent Mtolo (maths), Andile Sifiso Zulu (maths and science) and Phiwayinkosi Victor Ngema (maths and science) from the Mandeni branch and Kwazi Gumede (maths) from the Stanger branch.
The money will be used for tertiary studies at a department of higher education and training recognised university or university of technology.
Sappi contributed R210 000 in total to furthering the studies of 18 promising young adults.
