Ballito water problems caused by burst pipe

Sembcorp Siza Water said a burst pipe was the reason for the low water pressure.

Residents in Ballito have been complaining about low water pressure or brown-coloured water coming out of their taps over the weekend.

Kobus Fourie, technical manager at Sembcorp Siza Water said they experienced a burst pipe in the area of Townsend Road in Ballito which caused the low water pressure.

“We are going into winter which means temperature changes and so does an increase in burst pipes. This is normal. Coupled with the drought we anticipate a slight increase due to soil movements,” said Fourie.

“Muddy water after a burst pipe is normal and although we try to get rid of most by opening the fire hydrants, some still stays in the network. After being alerted of this via our call centre we dispatched staff to scour out the muddy water even further. Hence, if customers are experiencing this issue they should contact us,” said Fourie.
