Boy knocked over at Chakas Rock

Two accidents occurred between Chakas Rock and Salt Rock on Wednesday morning.

A six-year-old boy was hit by a car at around 7.15am on Wednesday morning on the Chakas Rock bridge over the N2.

IPSS Medical Rescue paramedics and advanced life support attended to the boy, who goes to school at RA Padayachee.

The boy’s father, Wiseman Mcineka was at work when he received the call that his child was in an accident.

“He was with four other children and apparently he tried to cross the road when he got hit by a car,” said Mcineka.

The boy was in a critical condition with injuries to his head, pelvis and his right leg was broken.

The KZN Department of Health’s AMS helicopter was called in to airlift the boy to Albert Luthuli Hospital in Durban.

Shortly after the boy was transported, a vehicle overturned on the N2 south after the Salt Rock offramp.

The vehicle crossed the median and ended up in the right hand lane of the N2 north.

Four passengers were injured and transported to hospital.
