Motorists are not too happy about the big petrol price hike this month.
The Central Energy Fund announced that the price of petrol will go up by 47c and diesel will increase by 49c.
These price increases kick in on Tuesday at midnight.
The reason for this increase was that the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin increased during the period under review, despite the Rand strengthening against the US Dollar.
The average Rand/US Dollar exchange rate for the period from April 30 to May 28 was R11.94 compared to R12.04 during the previous period.
The strengthening of the Rand against the US Dollar decreased the contribution to the basic fuels levy on petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin.
