Deda Primary re-opens
After a much-needed renovation, the school continues to serve the Ndwedwe community.
Close to 2000 members of the KwaDeda community in Ndwedwe, attended the official opening of Deda Primary School in Ilembe District Municipality on Tuesday, 19 May.
The school recently underwent a major face-lift after being renovated and expanded.
The school has 21 classrooms, two computer laboratories and of course a multipurpose hall which will cater more than 800 pupils.
Deda Primary which starts from pre-school to grade seven currently has an enrollment of 704, an Adult Basic Education and Training (Abet) program, and boasts more than 50 graduates of computer lessons each year.
The school was named in 1968 after the late Nkosi Ngonyama Ngcobo whose nickname was Deda (loosely translated, running backwards).
Legend has it, the Chief would send his oppositions in the battlefield running backwards.
