R102 closed after serious accident

Minibus and truck involved in massive accident that forced the closure of the road.

The R102 near Compensation was closed just after 11am on Friday morning after a massive accident between a truck and a school kombi.

The school kombi, carrying children who were returning from a leadership camp, was turning left onto the R102 and the truck was coming from Tongaat towards Ballito on the R102.

Four people were declared dead on scene, with multiple patients transported to hospital with injuries ranging from critical to moderate.

Community residents on the scene said something should be done to the intersection at Compensation and the R102 because there have been so many serious accidents.

At the end of May, two women and a man died after their vehicle crashed into a truck on the same road.

The women were well known in the community as waitresses at a local restaurant.
