“Suffering because of an unhelpful hospital”
Hospital did not provide matric pupil with any pain medication after accident.
A matric pupil who was involved in an accident in Canelands on Friday, June 5 is suffering at home without any pain medication after receiving almost no treatment at a local hospital.
Sbekezelo Mbambo (21) was in a taxi on her way to Temple Valley School in Verulam when the taxi overturned.
She broke her shoulder and was injured on her legs and head.
She was treated at Osindisweni Hospital for two days then discharged on June 7.
Her family is very unhappy about the treatment Mbambo received at the hospital.
“After they stitched her head and bandaged her shoulder and legs, she was told she will be transferred to Addington Hospital, but when the ambulance arrived, she was told that she will not be transferred and spent the whole night unattended,” said her sister, Londi Magwagwa.
She said the linen of the bed was not changed from the day her sister was admitted until she was discharged and no one gave her any food.
She was unable to bath and could not walk to the bathroom for the whole weekend.
Currently the pupil is at her home in Canelands, and her sister said she is suffering from the pain and does not have any medication.
“She was given Panado and nothing else to help her to deal with the pain,” complained Magwagwa.
The hospital did not respond to enquiries.
