Mom rescues boy from sea in Ballito

Son got dragged out to sea by a strong rip current.

A mother from Ballito did not think twice to jump into the ocean to save her son when he got dragged into the sea on Tuesday morning.

At around 11am, Bronwyn Herselman was on the beach near Boulder Bay with her seven-year-old son, Samuel, who was swimming in a rock pool with his friends.

Even though the sea was calm, there were some fairly large waves breaking on the rocks and Sameul got taken out the back of the rock pool by a strong current.

His mother ran into the water and dove through the waves to rescue her son.

She grabbed hold of Sameul and sheltered him from the rocks.

Fortunately neither of them were seriously injured.
