Water shedding starts

Water interruptions implemented to save water.

As the drought tightens its grip on the North Coast, water interruptions have been enforced.

It is the duty of each water service authority to reduce the consumption by 50% with immediate effect and therefore Ethekwini Municipality has a schedule indicating the daily water interruptions in the different areas.

La Mercy, Seatides and Westbrook will have water interruptions from 12pm to 6pm daily.

King Shaka Airport and Dube TradePort will be shut off from 11am to 5pm daily.

Khosi Mathenjwa from Sembcorp Siza Water said there is no specific schedule for Ballito.

“They can expect water interruptions for four to six hours during the day,” said Mathenjwa.

She said that since we are in a crisis, people must try and save 50% of their consumption.
