Giving food to the needy

KwaDukuza Food for Life distributed pots of food to those less fortunate in the area.

On Saturday, June 20, the NPO KwaDukuza Food for Life cooked and distributed 80 pots of breyani around the townships of KwaDukuza.

The cooking started early as 5am and there were 430 volunteers who came to assist with cooking and distribution of the food to the needy communities.

The 80 pots served 20 000 plates of food to children and adults.

Chairperson of the non-profit organisation, Babu Sampath, thanked the community for their support and appealed for support in the next project to be held on Mandela Day, July 18.

“On that day we will serve 27 000 children and 108 pots will be cooked,” said Sampath.

Every week KwaDukuza Food For Life serves 2000 plates to children around the townships of KwaDukuza.

Sampath said they go to two townships every week and serve food to the very poor.
