Elderly woman attacked on farm

Woman sustained minor injuries after robbers stormed her house.

The Dolphin Coast was shaken by another farm attack this week when an elderly woman from Esenembe was roughed up in her farmhouse during an armed robbery on Monday, June 29 at around 8am.

Umhlali SAPS Lt Col Dieter Fittkau said two trouble makers, carrying a pistol and an okapi knife, held up the 94-year-old Margaret Visser’s domestic worker and private security guard before forcing them into the house.

Demanding cash and jewellery, they manhandled Visser before ransacking the house. When they found nothing of value, they made a quick call from a cell phone to tell an apparent handler of the blunder.

The robbers then stole a duffle bag and a set of keys before fleeing on foot.

An air search by the Reaction Unit South Africa proved fruitless and the robbers are still at large with Visser’s keys.

She was treated at her home for cuts and bruises but declined any further medical attention.
