Missing man found

Man believed to have left because of stress.

Ballito’s Milk Café manager Roan de Beer has been found after having been missing for four days. He is now safely home with his wife, Marisa.

De Beer went missing at 8am on Monday, June 22 after leaving the Milk Cafe on foot and without informing his relatives of where he was going.

Lizette Liebenberg, mother-in-law of De Beer and the registered owner of the Milk Cafe, said that she had been aware that he was very stressed before his disappearance last week Monday and that he was visibly distressed during the three days before he left.

De Beer was missing until lunchtime on Friday, June 26, when he called his wife from a pay-phone near the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban asking to be picked up so that he could come home.

“Roan is fine and is doing well. He told me he was just very stressed from the business, which is why he left, but we are so happy and thankful to have him home,” said Marisa.

The Ballito community rallied around Lizette, offering her messages of encouragement on the Facebook group ‘Meet My Neighbour Ballito’ after she asked members to help her find her husband. She had feared for his safety after he made no contact with friends or relatives regarding his whereabouts or his plans to return.

Now that he is safely home, the couple are looking forward to the arrival of their first-born child next month.
