Helping out for Women’s Month
Organisations partner to provide mush needed sanitary care for young girls.
The Tonver Community Foundation and the La Mercy Residents Action Group (LaMRAG), partnered together in a drive to help relieve the poverty levels in the community, by initiating a drive to provide 200 packs of sanitary towels to every school going girl over the age of 11, living in Lugelani.
Initially LaMRAGs aimed to give each girl a pack of sanitary towels on Women’s Day, Sunday, August 9. However, the organisation hopes to continue this drive for as long as possible.
Alicia Raklall, Tonver Foundation Youth Co-ordinator, handed over 195 packs of sanitary towels to members of the community.
The Tonver Community Foundation would like to thank local pharmacies, doctors and businesses together with the community both far and wide in providing assistance to the drive. It was a resounding success.
