Cast your lines for orphans
All the details for the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund Bass Competition.
There could be no better way to spend Heritage Day than bass fishing with your family at the picturesque Rain Farm Game and Lodge, all in aid of one incredibly good cause.
Cast your line and you may strike lucky – one tagged fish is worth a sweet R5000 to the angler who hooks it.
Last year more than 200 anglers and their families came out in support of the first annual North Coast Courier Orphan Fund bass fishing competition on Heritage Day.
Simply by taking part the anglers pumped a phenomenal R28 000 into the Orphan Fund, directly impacting the lives of orphaned children on the Dolphin Coast.
This year the competition is back on and joining hands once again with property heavyweights Seeff, the competition promises to be a must do event.
Tim Johnson, sales director of Seeff in Ballito said they saw this as an excellent opportunity to foster community spirit while providing for the most needy in our society.
In addition to great fishing Seeff will be hosting a fun activity zone for the younger children.
“Following on from the success of last years’ event, Seeff is excited to be adding a special ‘Kids Zone’ with loads of fishing activities and prizes in a designated dam. There will be a free fishing clinic from 8am, with the kids putting all their new found skills to use in their own competition between 8.30am and 10am. Moms and dads are encouraged to come along and share in the excitement,” said Johnson.
Orphan Fund secretary Rose Stephenson said the event was an important part of their annual fundraising.
“Every cent raised, whether from sponsors, raffles or entry fees will go directly towards supporting, feeding and helping to educate the orphaned and vulnerable children in our area,” said Stephenson.
Registration starts at 6am.
Fishing will be open from 6am till 10am with prize giving at 10.30am. Loads of prizes are up for grabs including the top three biggest bass in the senior and junior (13 years and under) categories as well as lucky draws and a raffle.
