Vertical thinking

Enjoy a living painting with a vertical garden in your home.

When you walk into a trendy restaurant, modern office or stylish home, you may be privileged enough to see a green, living wall. Vertical gardens have taken walls by storm and the man behind the clever system of potplants on a wall is inventive Salt Rock resident, Bruce Wacher.

“Product development innovation excites me,” said Wacher.

He stumbled across a vertical garden about five years ago and loved the idea, seeing an opportunity to develop it further.

“I felt a sense of peace when I saw the vertical garden and I thought people need this. I embarked on a mission to develop a vertical garden solution that incorporates everything you need including pumps, timers and pots.”

The mission was a success and after 14 months of research and development, the VertiPot was born, which revolutionized wall gardens.

“I started GroSpace in 2012, with the vision of manufacturing, assembling and distributing the VertiPot system to registered professional installers.” What makes his product so popular is how easy it is.

“The beauty of the individual pots is that they just unclip from the frame, so changing a plant is quick and easy.”

Furthermore, the product does not need a lot of maintenance, offers improved sustainability as well as design flexibility and is made from recyclable material. People across the country are using Wacher’s VertiPots to create the green walls, which create a relaxing atmosphere, provide cleaner air and improve the acoustics of a room.

“It is quite popular to plant herbs, but beware that this is a passion project and requires more attention than going for brumeliads or ferns. If you are up for the challenge of herbs, mint is the best for the wall.”

So all you need to do is choose a space, assemble the system, select the plants, pop them into the pots, switch on the pump and enjoy the living painting.
