Young Achievers honour model agency boss

Karen Landman reccognised for her work with the youth.

Simply Models owner, Karen Landman received an honorary award at the 2015 KZN Young Achievers awards held at the Blue Waters hotel in Durban on August 22.

Every year during the glitzy KZN Young Achievers awards, the organisation identifies and present an honorary awards to 11 celebrities, community leaders and development practitioners, who may not fall within the young achievers categories, but through their work they contribute towards the development of KZN’s young people.

“Landman is a pioneer in the development of the youth with an interest in beauty and fashion. Her work enhances social cohesion as we see young people from all different backgrounds, racial groups and genders getting involved in her programs and projects,” said Young Achievers executive director, Mthobisi Mkhize.

She said they have witnessed many young people achieving their goals in fashion and beauty through Landman’s inspirational work as she trains and motivates them to go the extra mile.

Describing Landman as a dynamic leader and trend setter, Mkhize said: “We believe she deserves more than a token of appreciation and we hope that people from organisations, government and the corporate sector will continue to support Landman’s initiative as they have a great impact on our youth.”

Landman, a former Miss Durban 2013/2014, received her award from home affairs minister, Malusi Gigaba and first lady, Thobeka Zuma.
