How to: Get Instagram and follow us

So if you do not have Instagram on your phone yet, because you do not know what it is, how it works or where to get it, then we would like to help.

Instagram is a photo sharing application for your phone.

It is a fast growing social media network because users do not have to filter through all the nonsense of their old school friend’s breakups. Basically, it is just normal people taking cool photos and sharing them with the world.

Here is a step by step guide as to how you can get Instagram:

1. Go to your phone’s app store like Google Play or just search Instagram on your web browser.

2. Download and install the Instagram app. It is free.

3. You will have to set up a profile before you can begin using the app. Register with your email address and choose a username, usually your name, or something simple for example: johnsmith.

4. After your profile is created, you can search for your friends or people you would like to follow. You can follow anyone you like, and anyone can follow you. No friend requests needed. The more people you follow, the more followers you will get.

5. To upload a photo, open Instagram and click on the camera icon in the middle. You can take a picture with your phone camera or just select a photo from your photo album.

6. Instagram allows you to edit the photo’s brightness or size and you can also add a filter to create a different look for your photos. You can even add a frame with each different filter.

7. When you are done editing, you can write a caption and tag people in the photo.

8. Publish your photo and voila! Your first Instagram post!

You can link your Twitter or Facebook accounts with your Instagram account, which means every time you post to Instagram the post will also appear on Twitter and Facebook.

You can comment on anyone’s photos and like their photos by clicking ‘like’ or double tap on the photo on your screen.

To gain more followers and more likes, include more hashtags in your post like #Ballito, #RugbyWorldCup or #Weekend.

Hashtags give your post a higher profile when people are searching for photos of a specific subject.
