Boy taken off ventilator and is breathing on his own.

The five-year-old boy who nearly drowned at Thompson’s Bay on Sunday afternoon is recovering very well and is breathing on his own.

The Specialised Rescue Unit’s Quentin Power said the boy is talking to everyone and is fully conscious.

His 33-year-old father, who heroically jumped in to help his son and also suffered near drowning symptoms, is in a stable condition.
