Man arrested in KwaDukuza with stolen car and AK47s

The man had two AK47 assault rifles and ammunition hidden under his bed.

The Phoenix Tactical Response Team were patrolling around KwaDukuza town on Saturday when they followed up on information about a suspicious-looking vehicle in the area.

They spotted and pulled over a vehicle fitting the same description.

The driver was searched and found in possession of a 9mm pistol with ammunition.

The vehicle was confirmed as a stolen vehicle from the Hillcrest area.

On further investigation, the 35-year-old man took the police officers to his homestead in Maphumulo where they recovered two AK47 assault rifles and ammunition hidden under his bed.

The accused will appear in the KwaDukuza magistrate’s court today facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition as well as possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.
