Police arrest two for house robbery in Blythedale
Another suspect managed to flee before police arrived at his house.
Umhlali police and KwaDukuza crime intelligence arrested two people for house robbery on Wednesday evening in Shakaskraal.
They were following up on information about the suspects who allegedly held up a homeowner on New Year’s Eve in Blythedale Beach.
On 31 December 2015 at about 4pm, the victim was at home at Blythedale Beach when he was approached by three suspects armed with firearms.
He was assaulted and suspects demanded the safe key, taking firearms, cash, jewellery and a watch.
Police members recovered two shotguns and ammunition, magazines, binoculars and knives suspected to be taken during the house robbery.
Two suspects were arrested while one managed to flee before police arrived at his house.
The suspects were charged for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition as well as possession of property suspected to be stolen.
Both suspects aged 18 and 22 will appear today in the Umhlali Magistrates Court.
They will further appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrates Court next week facing the house robbery charge.
