Alleged KwaDukuza drug dealer to appear in court

An alleged drug dealer was found with 151 straws of whoonga and 62 capsules at the KwaDukuza taxi rank.

An alleged 40-year-old drug dealer is due to appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, to face a possession of drugs charge.

He was arrested on Monday at about 8am during a sting operation by Ilembe Crime Intelligence and KwaDukuza Crime Prevention members.

Police followed a tip about drugs being sold at the taxi rank in KwaDukuza.

They identified the alleged drug dealer, searched him and found 151 straws of whoonga and 62 capsules (containing whoonga) on him.

He was arrested and charged with possession of drugs.

KZN Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni encouraged the community to continue reporting those who supply or sell drugs to the youth.

‘Our police officers will deal harshly with those involved in drugs and information given to the police will be confidential,’ she said.
