School pupil arrested for drugs in Ballito

A grade eleven pupil was caught with 1850 straws of Whoonga.

A 17-year-old school pupil from Ntshawini was arrested in Ballito last night after he was found in possession of whoonga  to the street value of R47 000.

Umhlali SAPS warrant officer Mandla Ngema said the boy is a grade 11 pupil at one of the high schools in the township.

“He was caught with 1850 straws of whoonga and usually the cost of a straw is R25 on the street,” said Ngema.

The boy was apparently transporting the drugs from Durban to Ntshawini and police said it is possible that he is a drug dealer at the school.

He will appear in the Umhlali Magistrate Court today.
