Feel the love at a romantic concert at the museum

Groutville's Luthuli Museum's special Valentine concert features all-female pop-jazz group, Heels over Head and music/poetry group, Ubuciko The Art.

Celebrate a romantic Valentine’s Day at the Luthuli Museum, Groutville’s special concert featuring all-female pop-jazz group, Heels over Head and music/poetry group, Ubuciko The Art.

“We have a lot of respect for Chief Albert Luthuli and Mama Nokukhanya Luthuli who were a duo of real heroes. We find it important to keep on sharing their story to every generation.

“We think that couples could learn a lot from the true love they had and the continuous fight they fought together to bring peace and harmony in the world,” says Thulile Zama, vocalist of Heels over Head.
The love of jazz music weaved these girls together in 2008 to form this unique musical force.
Their music is referred to as smooth jazz or easy-breezy pop jazz, and they developed a notable and clever signature sound that consists of current African-influenced music and uniquely re-arranged standards. The band is known for making the audience get on their feet and dance to their rhythmic bass lines and their cheerful melodies.
The women have a sparkling stage presence and you cannot miss the charm and charisma of their lead vocalists, Thulile Zama and Nomkhosi Mazibuko.

They are joined by skilled drummer Rebekah Doty, accomplished pianist Mandy Cobbing and smoking-hot guitarist Chillie Wardell-Stent.

Ubuciko The Art was established in 2011 when members met at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The trio is fascinated by the power of expression through visual and musical art form, which is why their passion is derived from talent, love and compassion for the arts.

The group’s three members are: Nhlanhla Mzobe from KwaMashu (recorder), Lucky Swele from Limpopo (guitarist) and Nkululeko Mchunu from Hammarsdale (poet, dancer, and writer).

There will be a lucky draw and great giveaways including a voucher from The Hampshire Hotel.

The concert is on Sunday, 14 February at 2pm. Tickets are R60 each or R100 that includes a braai. Visit www.webtickets.co.za or buy tickets at Pick n Pay.
