Celebrate Marley at the rasta and reggae festival and fair
Dress-up and join the celebration of the life of music legend, Bob Marley at the tribute festival and rasta fair at uShaka.
With February being the month of love, uShaka Marine World is getting into the groove and invite you to celebrate “One Love” at the ninth annual Bob Marley Tribute Festival and Rasta Fair at Wahooz on the Promenade, uShaka Marine World.
The rasta celebration takes place on Sunday, February 28 from 10am to 6pm.
As part of uShaka’s celebration of the life of music legend Bob Marley, join in by dressing in red, green and yellow before heading to uShaka to be entertained by the Undivided Roots (PMB), Rastas At Work (KZN), Don Franco Tafari (Zimbabwe), The Meditators Reggae Band (SA), RedEye Mabanda and the HottWaxxFamily (Zimbabwe) as well as NatureVybs Selektors and BlackFox Martial Arts (KZN).
Headlining this year’s festival are The Meditators, a six-piece reggae band based in Durban, founded by Shante Bekwa in 1991, the band leader, lead guitarist, lead vocalist and composer of his own original music.
Joined by Dan Msomi on rhythm guitar; who also sings and composes music.
Other members include Bunny Nathi Mkhize on drums, Sfiso Mpanza on keyboard and backing vocals, Barret Hlela on bass guitar and Alberto Chemane on persussion.
Also forming part of the line-up is Pietermaritzburg’s The Undivided Roots.
The band, who have been performing together for eight years, comprises of brothers and sisters of the late Ntsangu Roots, a well-known street musician and activist, who taught them all about music and Rastafarian heritage.
Festival-goers can also catch the Rasta Fair with traders selling homemade and handcrafted artworks, clothes, Sacred Books, and more.
Be a part of this annual gathering of the SA reggae community paying homage to Bob Marley by promoting a message of “One Love”, one heart, one mind and one soul which has reverberated throughout the world.
