Violent protests close N2 Chakas Rock

Avoid the N2 and R102 between Ballito and Salt Rock.

The N2 between Ballito and Salt Rock has been closed from early this morning due to a public protest on the highway.

Umhlali SAPS spokesperson Vinny Pillay  confirmed that people were burning tyres on the N2 at the bridge between Chakas Rock and Shakashead.

The R102 has also been closed.

The public are advised to use the coastal road between Ballito and Salt Rock.

But be warned, the traffic congestion already has cars backed up in all directions.

The cause of the protest is still unknown.

Updates to follow.
