R1 385 000 iphones stolen in slick operation

The armed gang targeted the two cellphone stores for iphones specifically.

 A slick and swift gang of armed burglers broke into two cellphone stores in Ballito Lifestyle Centre in the early hours of this morning stealing a large number of iphones.
The MTN and iPhone shop were targeted by robbers driving two Volkswagen Gtis.
Property manager for the centre, Mark Pearse said they were the sixth centre to be hit within the last two to three weeks.
“Centres from Hillcrest to Richards Bay have been to be targeted by this armed gang who get in and out in about three minutes with iphones,” he said.
Umhlali Police spokesman, warrant officer Vinny Pillay said the gang consisted of eight armed men who pointed firearms at the security guards.
“The men smashed the entire front window of the MTN store and went immediately to the back where the phones are stocked and took iphones to the value of R1 million before moving quickly to the iBar next door stealing R385 000 worth of iphones, according to the docket,” Pillay said.
