Excitement is building among the popular club-goers of the 60s as news spreads of well-known band, The Jets’ reunion set to take place this month.
Band members Cyril Francis, Ortel Singh and Godfrey Daniels will be uniting in a one-night only special performance of music from the good ‘ol days.The Flames,
Having formed just a few months ahead of another popular band, The Flames, The Jets are set to wow audiences with an explosive performance.
The reunion will include Godfrey Daniels, who re-located to Ireland.
Although Ortel Singh and Cyril Francis still play occasionally they are excited about the reunion that will include original members, apart from Tony Lazarus who died tragically in an accident on 2007 and Ivan Daniels who died after falling ill in 2009.
The band plays on Saturday March 27 at the Kharwastan Community Centre and includes original performances as well as cover versions of bands such as Carlos Santana, Bee Gees and the Rolling Stones.
Afterward the performance fans can meet with the band members to reminisce about yesteryear.
The Jets boasted a loyal following the 60s and performed in Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth to sold-out shows..
The band’s big break came when they won the Coca Cola Battle of the Bands in 1962, out-performing 15 bands from across the country.
