The old school rockers also made their mark with groups such as Genesis, Mike and The Mechanics, Roxette, and UB40; while South African music took to the world stage with names such as Brenda Fassie, Mandoza and Vicky Sampson’s hit song African Dream, which celebrated the birth of a new South Africa in 1994.
