When you are expecting

Dads and moms-to-be gathered at the Netcare Alberlito Hospital last Saturday, where they were geared up for that scary, but highly exciting delivery day.

Alberlito marketing officer, José Nadesan said they wanted to use the Pregnancy Awareness Day to give “family-starting parents” a platform where their questions are answered.

“Alberlito is dedicated to making sure that parents and their new-borns receive personal care before, during and after delivery. Community is all about family, and we count it a privilege to be able to assist mums and dads in making informed decisions regarding their new-born,” said Nadesan.

Doctors, physiotherapists and maternity experts spoke to the soon-to-be parents about what they should expect while expecting.

Alberlito Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Dr Leneque Lindeque focused on the big decision all moms face – to go the natural or ceasarean route.

“We could spend the whole day debating about natural versus caesarean delivery, but at the end of the day everyone is different and so are their experiences. Each couple needs to make an informed decision that is safe for them and their baby,” said Dr Lindeque,

She said moms should be encouraged to ask questions and listen to their doctor’s advice, before deciding on natural or cesarean birth.
