Due recognition for Courier journo and Get It staff
Courier journalist Jacqueline Herbst and Get It Ballito/Umhlanga, editor Leah Shone, received accolades at the annual Caxton Award ceremony.
North Coast Courier journalist, Jacqueline Herbst raked in three “finalist” accolades at the annual Caxton Excellence Awards ceremony held at the Johannesburg Theatre, in Braamfontein, on Thursday, March 17.
Herbst received recognition as a finalist in: best portrait photographer, best hard news photographer and best up-and-coming journalist.
“The photography standards were exceptionally high this year, the bar was raised quite a bit. And the up-and-coming journalist winner “risked life and limb” covering the #feesmustfall protests at Tuks, a deserved win,” said Herbst.
Our Get It Ballito/Umhlanga was highly commended, an excellent achievement as the competition around the country, especially in Gauteng, is fierce.
“We are thrilled to be placed as runners-up in the best Get It Magazine category for 2015. I’m so proud of our team who work very hard to produce the magazine every months,” said editor Leah
Shone.
The Caxton Award ceremonies are glamorous affairs attended by Caxton local newspaper and Get It staff from all ove the country. This year’s theme was “Fantastical 2015”.
The evening includes top-class entertainment and tasty cuisine.
