Bus driver shot dead in Tongaat

A bus driver was shot, while driving, by one of the passengers and lost control of the vehicle.

The driver of a public transport bus was reportedly shot in the head by one of the passengers while driving on the Watson Highway towards the M4 at about 6am this morning.

The driver lost control of the bus, carrying about 20 passengers, before it went down a small embankment.

IPSS Mediccal Rescue spokesperson, Paul Herbst, said their Advanced Life Support paramedic declared the driver dead at the scene due to his extensive injuries.

Multiple passengers were transported to hospital for shock and minor scrapes and bruises.

Police are currently investigating.
