Young boy pinned under taxi in Stanger and killed

The Pupil got pinned underneath the taxi and was dragged down an embankment.

A seven-year-old boy lost his life this afternoon on the R102 Stanger after he was hit by a taxi.

Paul Herbst from IPSS Medical Rescue said the taxi driver claimed the young boy was crossing the road.

“The child got pinned underneath the taxi and was dragged down an embankment,” said Herbst.

“On arrival of IPSS paramedics the boy was still in a critical and unstable condition.

“Advanced life support intervention was initiated before the young boy was extricated from beneath the vehicle.

“Unfortunately shortly after he was released from the vehicle he succumbed to his injuries despite the paramedics trying to resuscitate him for 40 minutes.”
